You would pick the cable type depending on the CAT control availability in the software you use and adjust the setting accordingly. See the product page for additional info. The relevant setting looks like this one:

It seems to receive ok, but I can’t get it to transmit.
When using the variant of the cable with serial lines, for transmission the software needs to issue a serial CAT command that radio understands.
Did you find the software that lists the CAT profile for Anytone AT-5000? The transceiver may share the instruction set with Anytone AT-D578 but that is not guaranteed. Anytone’s support should be able to provide details on that.
I just took a chance that is was the same as the Anytone AT-D578, but maybe it’s not.
