Based on above pinout the Digirig audio cable will look like this:

RJ45 pin 1 (MIC) → 3.5mm TRRS ring 1 (RIG\_AFIN)
RJ45 pin 2 (GND) → 3.5mm TRRS sleeve (GND)
RJ45 pin 6 (PTT-KEY) → 3.5mm TRRS ring 2 (RIG\_PTT)
RJ45 pin 8 (AF) → 3.5mm TRRS tip (RIG\_AFOUT)

The good approach would be to use one of the existing shielded/choked [TRRS cables](https://digirig.net/product/yaesu-ht-cable-for-digirig-mobile/) and crimp on the RJ-45 jack on the transceiver end.

Wow I’m glad I found this, I have two of these radios (well, one KG1000G and one KG-UV980P, but I suspect the handmic and cable is identical). I will try making one of these, but if you ever sell this cable I will buy two!

So cut one end off the linked audio cable and replace the 3.5mm end with the RJ-45 end? How would I know which wires in the audio cable are the (RIG\_AFIN), (GND), (RIG\_PTT), and (RIG\_AFOUT) wires? Are they color coded?

Unless something like the Yaesu FT-2500M cable would work…I think it would be easier/cleaner for me to just modify a cat6 cable. If I’m looking at it right, that would be:

Pin #4 to Pin #2

Pin #5 to Pin #1

Pin #6 to Pin #6

Pin #7 to Pin #8

Here is the pinout of Digirig’s audio socket:

I wouldn’t trust any stated wire coloring convention unless I could visibly confirm it end-to-end. Continuity test is the way to go.

I did the continuity test and I think that it’s wired correctly. For reference, here is what I came up with:

 ![Screenshot 2026-08-25 at 11.00.38 AM](https://forum.digirig.net/uploads/default/original/2X/9/960853ba7609ed73416f2bc58a75909a6e2951ef.png)

However it is not working. I’ll tinker a bit more with it, but there is no response from the radio when the software tries to PTT.

Does the radio key up when you short ring 2 to sleeve on Digirig’s end of the cable?

Well I feel silly, I had one wire in the wrong spot. The Wouxun mic pinout has them labeled in reverse order. I thought I had compensated for that, but missed one, and then missed it on the continuity test. It’s working now.
