Unlike many other mobile Yaesus, this one uses RJ-45 (8 pin jack same as in Ethernet cables) instead of RJ-12 (6 pin jacks similar to the land line phones). On the positive side, the connector has the audio out from the transceiver so we don’t have to collect that signal with the separate headphone jack.

Here’s the pinout and info from the [manual](https://www.qrzcq.com/pub/RADIO_MANUALS/YAESU/YAESU--FT-2500-User-Manual.pdf):

With that in mind, the Digirig cable should look like this:

RJ-45 pin 2 (RX AUDIO) → 3.5mm TRRS tip (RIG\_AFOUT)
RJ-45 pin 3 (PTT) → 3.5mm TRRS ring 2 (PTT)
RJ-45 pin 4 (TX AUDIO) → 3.5mm ring 1 (RIG\_AFIN)
RJ-45 pin 5 (GND) → 3.5mm sleeve (GND)

Please post your requests for this cable or reports of the homebrew builds.
If there is enough interest, I’ll add it to the store and announce here and in the mailing list.

I’m definitely interested in a cable.

The 2500M was my first amateur radio and while it’s no longer my daily driver, I’ve used it for APRS and it used to me my vehicle tracker with the tiny trak 3.

Now, I’d like to possibly use it for a digipeater project in my area.

Looks the same as my FT 2400. My 2400 manual says mic audio is 400 ohms. Not sure if that matters.

The impedance will not matter. Digirig’s output can drive anything down to 8 ohms.

That’s exactly what I am planning to do right at this moment. Very happily surprised to see a cable for the FT-2500M. That is so freaking cool! Ordering today. Already have an “old” Pi waiting. As soon as this arrives, I’ll be back to the build.
