Hi everyone,

I am looking for some guidance on connecting my **President Washington** (the new CB model) to a **Digirig Mobile** for use with **JS8Call** on the 11-meter band.

The President Washington features a **6-pin microphone jack** on the front and does not have a built-in USB soundcard. I am currently using a Sirio Boomerang antenna with a good SWR (1.1 - 1.2), so the RF side is sorted.

A few specific questions:

1. **Cables:** Which specific Digirig cable set should I use for the 6-pin President connector to ensure both audio (In/Out) and PTT work correctly?

2. **PTT Method:** Should I configure JS8Call to use ‘RTS’ via the Digirig COM port, or is it better to rely on the radio’s built-in VOX settings?

3. **Audio:** Does the audio output usually come from the 6-pin mic jack, or do I need to run a separate cable from the external speaker jack on the back of the radio to the Digirig?

If anyone has this specific setup running, I would appreciate any tips on the settings!

Thanks in advance!"

Erwin,

It appears that Washington model shares the same mic pinout as Lincoln. There is no off-the-shelve cable for either, but the pinout was discussed in this thread:

> [@Cable for President Lincoln 2+](https://forum.digirig.net/t/cable-for-president-lincoln-2/5415):
>
> Based on the above mic schematic, the audio cable for Digirig will look like this: GX??-6 pin 1 (Modulation) → 3.5mm TRRS ring 1 (RIG\_AFIN) GX??-6 pin 3 (TX) → 3.5mm TRRS ring 2 (RIG\_PTT) GX??-6 pin 5 (Ground) → 3.5mm TRRS sleeve (GND) 3.5mm TRS tip (Ext. Sp.) → 3.5mm TRRS tip (RIG\_AFOUT) Connection GX??-6 pin 2 (RX) → GX??-6 pin 5 (GND) may also be required. Please report your results if you give this build a go.

Please post the update if you decide to give it a go.

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share my JS8Call setup for the **President Washington**. Unlike most setups that use the front microphone port, I am using the jacks on the back of the radio to keep the front clean.

 **My Connection Method:**

- **Audio Out:** I use the **3.5mm External Speaker jack** on the back of the Washington, connected to the Digirig’s “Audio” port for receiving signals.

- **PTT/Transmit:** I use the **2.5mm VOX jack** on the back of the radio.

- **Radio Settings:** I have enabled the **VOX function** on the President Washington. This allows the Digirig to trigger the transmitter automatically as soon as it sends audio from the PC.

 **Why this works for me:**

This setup is great because I don’t need a special 6-pin microphone cable. Standard 3.5mm and 2.5mm audio cables (connected to the Digirig) do the job perfectly.

 **Results:**

It works flawlessly on JS8Call (USB mode). I’m getting great decodes from Greece and France using my **Sirio Boomerang A** antenna. My SWR is a stable **1.1** on Channel 1 and **1.2** on Channel 40.
