I built a Pi 4 and loaded FLDigi. The Digirig sound card shows in lsusb:
pi@rks-pi-4:~ $ lsusb
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub
Bus 001 Device 005: ID 10c4:ea60 Silicon Labs CP210x UART Bridge
Bus 001 Device 004: ID 0d8c:013c C-Media Electronics, Inc. CM108 Audio Controller
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0424:2412 Microchip Technology, Inc. (formerly SMSC)
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 2109:3431 VIA Labs, Inc. Hub
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub

arecord shows:
pi@rks-pi-4:~ $ arecord -l
\*\*\*\* List of CAPTURE Hardware Devices \*\*\*\*
card 3: Device [USB PnP Sound Device], device 0: USB Audio [USB Audio]
Subdevices: 0/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

But when configuring FLDigi, the Digirig sound card is not available to select for port audio. Only Default and Pulse are available.

I then built the same OS on a Pi 3. lsusb shows the same data. However, FLDigi now has Default, Pulse, and now has
USB PnP Sound Device: Audio (hw: 3,0) available.

arecord on the Pi 3 is the same:pi@roland-pi3:~ $ arecord -l
\*\*\*\* List of CAPTURE Hardware Devices \*\*\*\*
card 3: Device [USB PnP Sound Device], device 0: USB Audio [USB Audio]
Subdevices: 0/1
Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

Why isn’t the sound card device available on the Pi 4?

Hello! We are actually talking about that now on this thread:

> [@Help: unable to select Digirig after RPi 4 update](https://forum.digirig.net/t/help-unable-to-select-digirig-after-rpi-4-update/1492):

> Before and after photos attached. I am able to select the USB PnP Sound Device in Fldigi on a Raspberry Pi 4 before running update/upgrade, but after updating the Pi the Digirig is unavailable to select. The system does detect the Digirig otherwise, but fldigi doesnt see it. Removing Pulseaudio doesnt help. Forcing the sound card order doesnt help. I can simply continue using the Pi without updates, but that seems unwise. Does anyone have any ideas?
