Yeah I still haven’t had any success… ordering this cable (green 9600) today. I put this down for a while as I only need this device and radio for a yearly event. Coming up in August so I need to get everything dialed in, working, and boxed up. Run a weeks long comm event for an ultra marathon (200 miles) in the Mt. St. Helen’s wilderness.
Do you mind sharing your windows sound level settings for speaker and mic and mic gain settings in the radio? I have this same setup with the same radio, but I can not get the levels down low enough for Vara FM to complete a connection. Digirig seems to be way overdriven. no matter how low I set sound levels. Really driving me nuts. Packet works fine with the digirig but Vara is a bitch! I have the 9,600 cable (green end) but am only trying to run narrow 1200 vara.
Make sure you have AGC unchecked in properties of Digirig’s recording device. When active it overrides the level setting.

Usually it’s not necessary, but if you ran out of range, you can enable a hardware attenuator on the PCB by cutting a trace between pads labeled ATT.
that is beyond my skill set.
