# FTM-300DR & VARA FM Transmitting on standby frequency

Using the excellent instructions by N1SPW, I was able configure the Digirig Mobile to work with VARA FM and Winlink and successfully connected my Win10 computer the radio. When I try the VARA FM ping test, the radio is keyed, but instead of pinging the frequency I set in the radio (A band) and selected as the operating band, the ping test is using the standby frequency (B band), regardless of the frequency tuned in the B band. I read a note in the installation instructions that dual mode should be off. However, according to the radio manual, I do not have the option of disabling dual mode. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Took a break and thought about this situation. Since the radio wants to transmit on the B band, I tuned in my desired VARA FM frequency on the B band, and VARA FM works. The “why” this radio won’t transmit on the A band for VARA FM is not important at this point.
