I have just bought a digirig mobile, which I want to use with my CB radio Superstar 3900. I have several questions. Please excuse me if my questions are too naive or not precise enough, I have just started with JS8 and have not much technical background. Here are my questions:
I.) Somebody told me that I can use the cables under https://digirig.net/product/tx-500-cables/ and adapt them for the use with the Superstar 3900 4-pin mic socket. Is this correct?
ii.) If yes, I think I only need the audio cable and not the serial cable. Is this correct?
iii.) I assume that I need another interface for the radio audio output (this is already working on my computer via a small external sound card connected to the radio’s 3,5 mm audio out jack).
iv.) In the cable description, I read that the digirig needs to be configured for TX-500. I don’t know which configuration my digirig came with, as I did not command the cable at the same time. What shall I do?
Any help is appreciated. I am attaching what I think is the pin scheme of the Superstar 3900.

sorry, i don’t own a tx-500 series so i don’t know why the digirig would need to be configured that way.
i know it has something to do with supplying voltage to optoisolators but never needed to worry about that

i’m not sure you’ll need the digirig configured for tx-500 on a 4 pin mic jack CB radio
looks like plain in/out/ptt to me
as far as connecting to the digirig itself;
you get PTT , ground, and audio into the radio from the mic jack.
you get audio out of the radio from the rear panel 3.5mm speaker jack.
all these connections will terminate into one cable going into the audio jack of the digirig.
you can basically look at any cable set in the digirig store pages and look at the schematic to outline the digirig audio+ptt pinout.
so on the digirig audio+ptt jack:
tip = af out
ring 1 = af in
ring 2 = ptt
sleeve = ground
good luck

Dear KB0WLF, thank you so much. Wouldn’t this cable be better, as it already has one mic and one audio-in cable on one side? https://digirig.net/product/usdx-cable-for-digirig-mobile/?srsltid=AfmBOor3zy3IJ2yEfyth5-k-zJHr6UIfd2it0E2rrk3NAmLnKr8snEcM ?
Thanks again, 73 and have a nice evening! Guido 13OT264
I went to the cable I use the most and knew it had a clear pinout of the cables in the photos. Not that you should buy it and cut/modify it

i should have been clearer
that would be a good representation of what you would homebrew.
a 4 pin mic plug instead of a gx16 of course but that is what it would end up looking like.

good luck

That’s great - now I have understood everything, and the picture in the last link you sent is extremely helpful. Thank you very much and have a nice weekend!!! Guido 13OT264
