# New Chirp and the FT5DR

Long time fan of Digirig. I have multiple cables.

I am trying to get my FT5DR to connect to my laptop using New Chirp, so I can share memory channel settings with other radios. I may have forgotten previous instructions. I have the cable, and connect the 90 end to the radio. I have tried plugging the straight end into the Serial port as well as the Audio port on my digirig mobile, with no success.

I know the digirig is working, as I get the same USB and Digirig to connect to Baofeng radios on other cables with the same software.

Any help will be appreciated.

Bob,  
The stock FT-5DR cable is wired for audio and PTT. It doesn’t offer serial connectivity.  
In case of Baofeng there are two cables in the kit - one for data modes (audio + PTT) and another for serial programming. At this time there is no off-the-shelf programming cable for Yaesu HTs.
