I’m looking for suggestions to solve my aprs transmit problem. I’m using a samsung tablet, aprsdroid, digirig and an FT-818.

Receive works fine. But I can not get the radio to key up. Things I’ve tried:

usb cable:

Tried multiple usb cables. All receive but no transmit

digirig cable:

If i short the shield to the correct ring on the plug the radio will key up

tablet:

I’ve looked at every setting that might be remotely related. Aprsdorid has permission for the
micorphone, my location and to send notifications.

aprsdroid:

It is set to afsk. If i try aprs-is i do see my position on the internet.
The app indicates it is sending a position report

digirig:

If i plug headphones into the audio port I do hear the tones when sending my position.

I’m out of ideas. Does anyone have something else to check?

thanks,

You mentioned switching USB cables so I’m assuming you are using Digirig Mobile.
The PTT options for this model is via serial CAT command (wouldn’t expect that supported in many mobile apps), PTT by RTS (more likely, but still not widely supported in mobile apps).

As far as PTT by RTS is involved in APRSdroid, please check out this discussion:

My problem is that I don’t know the android libraries (or scala but that’s pretty easy). So investing the time with little or no idea of the right direction doesn’t seem like a winning strategy. If there’s someone or someones here who would like to collaborate on adding digirig functionally to Aprsdroid I think …

Digirig Lite is a better choice for the mobile apps with the range of PTT options optimized for mobile apps.

I found that. It sounds like that is the problem. I also saw that aprsdroid is working on adding support for RTS on mobile devices.
