# VarAC setup with FT-891- Help

Greetings
I have a new Digirig that Iam trying to interface to a Yaesu FT-891 and the new VarAC digital mode program. I cannot get the frequency to change on the radio using the direct usb cable between the radio and PC. Anyone using VarAC with the FT-891?

Tom,
With Yaesu FT-891 Digirig is not involved in CAT control and as you already determined it is handled via the direct USB cable connection. I googled for the relevant info and this resource appears to be relevant:

I don’t have experience with the 891, but I’m now using a FT-897 and I found it easiest to set up on FLRIG, then direct VaraAC to connect to FLRIG. Here is a screenshot of my settings.
