AIOC vs Digirig

Hey!
Does anyone know the main differences between digirig and AIOC?

i’ve touched a bit with both but i only found that digirig needs drivers to work, meanwhile AIOC doesn’t and that’s basically it.

the serial port is where the drivers come in.

both interfaces have a c-media audio device.
that will be recognized by windows sans driver.

depending on what the aioc uses to present a serial port, you may need the driver for that specific device.
windows may have it in the catalog already, but driver none the less.

the k1 form factor is neat if you’re going to use the aioc solely on a kenwood spk/mi compatible radio, otherwise the digirig allows easier ‘swapping’.

the digirig will also place the source of rf farther away from the interface and pc.
(assuming the rubber ducky antenna of course)

that’s what i can think of atm

good luck

I mean, you could also solder a K-1 cable to the AIOC, but it’s cheaper to make than the Digirig in terms of price right?

ahh, i ‘googlebay’d’ the ‘built’ version with preinstalled k1

yes, roll your own or assemble your own is usually cheaper than built/tested.

i just don’t have the experience with that device for a point to point comparison with:
digirig mobile, lite, or 891.

i’m using several homebrew interfaces here along with digirig mobiles for a variety of radio work.
making your own to suit your needs is definitely ham radio.

good luck
