Anytone 578UVIII not able to use the PTT Correctly with FLDIGI

That’s frustrating. What are the symptoms? You can take a step-by-step approach with the guide, Troubleshooting Digital Modes – digirig.

This can also be the case if you are using the variant of the cable with serial CAT capability.

On AT-578 they decided to share the same mic pin between PTT and one of the serial lines. Basic cable uses PTT by RTS while serial capable cable can only do PTT via CAT. You can’t fall back to PTT by RTS if using serial cable like with other radios.

Have you tried using VOX?

Found another post on this site and this was the fix… I was trying to use RIGCat or HAMLIB. Turned those off and used this configuration . It now works… Happy

I have the “Short with CAT” digirig cable. Now I see why I cannot use RTS to trigger PTT, but how do I configure Fldigi to make it work with this cable?

I might add that my rig using the “Short with CAT” cable works fine with Winlink Vara and VarAC.

Thread revival, anyone had luck with this? Supposedly hamlib 4.6 is supposed to have basic CAT support for the 578 with model 37001 but no dice. I got it to read the frequency from the radio once but that was a one off event. Works fine under VARA FM or VarAC but trying to get hamlib working so I can use FlDigi or WLE/AX.25 is a no go.

When I start rigctld the 578 goes into “External Cable Mode” which I’m told is what it looks like when the BT-01 is connected but can’t get it to PTT (With CAT Cable, over CAT with UART, not RTS) or change frequencies.
