Anytone AT-5000 - FT8/Digital

Hi, Are there any plans in the works to make a cable for the new Anytone AT-5000? Or maybe there is already a compatible cable?

Here’s a mic pinout I found in the manual for the radio:

This matches Anytone AT-D578 Cable

You would pick the cable type depending on the CAT control availability in the software you use and adjust the setting accordingly. See the product page for additional info. The relevant setting looks like this one:

Thank you for the information.

It seems to receive ok, but I can’t get it to transmit.

When using the variant of the cable with serial lines, for transmission the software needs to issue a serial CAT command that radio understands.

Did you find the software that lists the CAT profile for Anytone AT-5000? The transceiver may share the instruction set with Anytone AT-D578 but that is not guaranteed. Anytone’s support should be able to provide details on that.

I just took a chance that is was the same as the Anytone AT-D578, but maybe it’s not.

It definitely receives with no problem.

Anytone did reply back to my email.

“Hello, thank you for reaching out. No, they do not share the same CAT control. Since the AT-5000 is a CB radio and the AT-D578 is a DMR radio, they use completely different control protocols and software. “

Ah, bummer. I understand some differences on the margins of the instruction set, but it’s a strange choice not to have overlap where the functions are the same e.g. PTT.

Give it a go with hardware PTT option. Contact via the support form if you wish to return the CAT-enabled cable.

Good news! The Digirig AT-578UV audio cable w/o CAT control definitely works for digital using the AT-5000.

I would recommend using the AT-5000 on medium power as it gets pretty warm on hi power.

I’m using WSJT-X with the Z mod and so far it’s working great.
