Beginner issues ft-891/dr-891

Got everything set up and am making QSOs… very happy! Just have two oddities

  1. when I adjust the volume slider in windows for the digirig output device, the relay the rig chatters and the tx light is flickering. This happens whenever the slider is being moved and stops when I stop. This seems odd.

  2. my waterfall does feel. About 1250 to 15750. When I look at screenshots these are usually 0 - 3000. Have I got something wrong in the radio? I followed the ham radio 2.0 video for setup.

  1. Digirig has VOX PTT circuit in it. When you change the level you likely generate signals sufficient to trigger it momentarily. This should not be an issue while operating. Also the VOX PTT can be disabled if needed.
  2. Something must be filtering the audio on the transceiver side or you are off the FT8 frequency by about 1K or maybe current activity you receive is only within those frequencies? The 15750 (15.75K) upper range in your post must be a typo?

Ah ok. I will.keave it but out of interest how do you disable it?

I think the waterfall being narrow (and yes typo sorry!) was due to AGC being enabled! Turned that off and things look a LOT better.

You can cut this trace to disable PTT by VOX.
