If you plan to use your Anytone with CAT control, then you’ll need Digirig in Logic Levels configuration. Otherwise it doesn’t matter. For your HTs the configuration doesn’t matter unless you plan to use Digirig for programming. In later case it’s also Logic Levels.
I wanted to see if I could connect the 578 mic and the DigiRig CAT cable to the radio at the same time so I could use the mic to change frequencies, etc, while using the DigiRig. With Denis’s excellent advice, I have a working prototype. The Schottky diodes allow TTL multiplexing, so both the DigiRig can send PTT CAT commands and the mic can send its CAT commands to the radio. The resistors prevent TX audio from the mic from interfering with the audio from the DigiRig. The only thing that does not work is that there is no TX audio from the mic when you use the mic for voice coms - you must disconnect the DigiRig cable in order for the mic to pass TX audio. If anyone has any ideas about this, please post here.
Has anyone gotten VaraFM to work with the digirig lite? It works fine with UZ7HO Modem and Terminal. It worked with Vox but only keyed the 578 PLUS after about 4 seconds. I’m trying CAT & COM PTT, but Vara carps at me and tells me that it can’t connect to Com 3 (the digirig lite shows up as a USB Audio Device in Win 11), that it “may be in use by another program”.
Normally VOX PTT in Digirig is very responsive. Maybe the level on the right channel was insufficient. In either case it’s always a better option to use one of the explicit PTT methods instead (PTT by RA Board, RTS, CAT depending on the Digirig model).
Yes I was referring to Digirig Lite.
VOX PTT is available in Digirig Lite and Digirig DR-891. Where supported in software the better PTT option with Digirig Lite is PTT by GPIO3 AKA RA. Board.
