Cable for Icom ID-880H

I com uses same MiniDin6 cable as Yaesu FT-8xx transceivers. The 1200 data cable from FT-8xx kit or 9600 cable will work.

For pin 6 on the 9600 is that connected to anything or is just the 1, 2, 3, and 4 on the 9600 cable?

Edit: Will need to find a schematic symbol for that specific mini din 6 connector.

Pin 6 (SQL) is not connected in any configuration of this cable.

Perfect. Also hard to tell, is the image the pin out for the back of the transceiver or the cable itself.

Edit: Found the reference

Regarding the 2.5mm TRS data port on ID-880: according to manual it can be used for configuration programming and cloning, GPS connection and slow speed data. The data mode protocol is not mentioned. Picture of the cable with DB9 connector to the computer (page 70) suggests that it takes RS-232 levels.

There is no pinout for the connector, but manual mentions OPC-1529 cable. Based on some homebrew builds of this cable [1, 2] we can derive the pinout for serial cable for Digirig Mobile:

2.5mm TRS tip → 3.5mm TRRS ring 1 (RIG_TXD)
2.5mm TRS ring → 3.5mm TRRS tip (RIG_RXD)
2.5mm TRS sleeve → 3.5mm TRRS sleeve (GND)
NC → 3.5mm TRRS ring 2

Baud rates and other configuration for serial port can also be found on page 70.
Please post your results if you decide to build this cable.

Made/tested this cable: Only worked on the RS-232 Digirig 1.9*(Not CI-V or Default).
2.5mm TRS tip → TRRS tip (RIG_RXD)
2.5mm TRS ring → TRRS ring 1 (RIG_TXD)
2.5mm TRS sleeve → 3.5mm TRRS sleeve (GND)
NC → 3.5mm TRRS ring 2

Worked with cloning software CS-80/880 Reading and Writing.

Not sure if DIGIRIG SERIAL cable should be removed when using the PTT function on the audio cable.
Yaesu and Icom 9600 baud MiniDin6 audio cable for Digirig Mobile – digirig.
This Audio cable worked with a Winlink P2P session. The other station was set at 1200Baud. Got Vara FM to tune (tone to transmit). Will need to test with real stations and higher speeds soon.

Kevin,
Thanks for the pinout info and confirmation. There should be no interference between the cables so PTT/audio should still work with programming cable connected.

Im having troubles getting id-880h to trigger tx with digirig mobile in vara fm…any tips would be really appreciated…ty

Let’s first determine if this is software or hardware issue. Try simulating PTT by shorting pins on the Digirig’s side of the cable as shown here:
