The accessory connector in the back is lacking the required signals so we’ll use front MIC connector for TX audio, PTT and the headphones socket for RX audio.
Hey K0TX, sorry to dig up an old thread but I am trying to wire this up for a similar setup. I’m running a Kenwood ts-140s and a ts-440 on my desk. Since the 140 doesn’t have CAT anyway, I was trying to use the standard Kenwood 8pin Mic jack as well. That way I could run the audio only setup through either unit.
My question is do the two GND Jack’s get soldered together? Or actually, all three(Seperate headphone connection)? Or should they be isolated some how?
Connect pins 7 & 8 together - Digirig doesn’t have separate ground for chassis/PTT/audio.
The sleeve on the headphone socket is likely connected to the ground/chassis. You can connect or leave unconnected that in the cable.
Hello. I have a Kenwood TS140s and was trying to use the Digirig GX16KENW cable with the Digirig Mobile. When I try to send with wsjtx, I get this fluttery RF drive from kenwood. No problem when I take the cable off and send. Trying to understand if the wiring in this cable is correct. From the ohm meter, seems that I have PIN 6 (NC) connected to tip of audio cable. Any recommendations? Much appreciated and 73.
the fluttery RF drive could be that the radio is keying via VOX instead of RTS from the digirig comport. also, swr or alc limiter.
according to the 140 manual (googled) this rig doesn’t present RX audio at the mic connector (pin 6 on other rigs, hence the connection to the DR). you’d have to get RX audio from the spk/headphone jack (and turn up the volume knob) OR use the 13 pin connection on the rear which has everything in one jack. i don’t have this rig so i’m just reading the manual and guessing.
