Wow I’m glad I found this, I have two of these radios (well, one KG1000G and one KG-UV980P, but I suspect the handmic and cable is identical). I will try making one of these, but if you ever sell this cable I will buy two!
So cut one end off the linked audio cable and replace the 3.5mm end with the RJ-45 end? How would I know which wires in the audio cable are the (RIG_AFIN), (GND), (RIG_PTT), and (RIG_AFOUT) wires? Are they color coded?
Unless something like the Yaesu FT-2500M cable would work…I think it would be easier/cleaner for me to just modify a cat6 cable. If I’m looking at it right, that would be:
Well I feel silly, I had one wire in the wrong spot. The Wouxun mic pinout has them labeled in reverse order. I thought I had compensated for that, but missed one, and then missed it on the continuity test. It’s working now.
