Hi gang. I have a G90 and I have been using my DigiRig for a couple years now for FT8/FT4 and recently Olivia. I would to try out CW keying directly via the DigiRig but I have not come accross a way I can get my tranciever to PTT when its time to transmit CW. Any ideas?
Hi. I was planning on using fldigi. Currently my FLrig install does well for CAT control and tracks when I change frequency, or transmit on using WSJT-X or Fldigi using Olivia as an opmode. The keying for the CW opmode is the only hiccup right now.
my g90 is out in the freezing cold shack but i’ve got the x5105 here.
the x5105 will key up using just the key jack when in CW mode.
this means, you could homebrew a cable that takes the RTS ‘pin’ of the digirig audio jack and run it to the tip/sleeve of the xiegu trs key jack.
set your xiegu key type to manual
then tell the software to use RTS keying on digirig comport.
you could also use a TRRS ‘Y’ cable and then build a keying cable, again, using the above pins. that way, if you’re using CI-V command for ptt in wsjt-x, you could switch over to CW keying without unplugging anything.
having said all of that, i just checked if the x5105 would ‘cw’ via the ptt button on the microphone/main unit.
listening with another cw receiver, yes, yes it does.
you do not get a sidetone though from the speaker like you do when using a cw key on the key jack.
SO, perhaps, if the software allows, you can setup cw to use just the preferred ptt method and NOT build any cables going to the key jack.
my 90s era icom radios require PTT + key on/off depending on type of ‘break-in’ selected. luckily the xiegu do not.
