The KX2 supports CAT. The FT5DR (obviously) does not.
Seems I’ll need two Digirigs. One with default CAT config (or a Lite) for the HT and one with RS-232 for the KX2.
Hopefully I’m wrong and I can swap one unit between the two radios 
since the ft5dr doesn’t have a cat interface, it won’t care what digirig mobile you have.
(it could be ci-v,ttl,rs232, and it would work fine)
obviously you would only use the audio/ptt cable of the digirig mobile to connect to the ft5dr
