So I purchased the Digirig with appropriate cables for the IC-706mkiig from Gigaparts. I download what I believe is the correct drivers for my windows PC and the audio works correctly but I can’t seem to get cat controls to work. I have a cheap Chinese cat control cable for that radio that works no problem, I fact currently doing ft-8 with that cat control and audio through the digirig, however I would like to use cat control through digirig. What am I doing wrong here? I spent a few hours trying all the drivers from the link provided by digirig and a just can’t seem to get cat control to work.

Icom radios use CI-V for remote control. (voltage levels are compatible)
CI-V only uses 1 wire to rx/tx commands and a ground wire.
everything else has separate wires for rx and tx commands.
all my digirigs are TTL, most likely what you have.
i just put a stereo to mono adapter on the radio end of the digirig cable and i’m good to go.
i use the same digirig with xiegu g90/x5105 and my icoms without issue using that stereo to mono adapter.
good luck

Digirigs sold in kits (Gigaparts, HRO) are preconfigured so should be no issue there.
See if the interface passes the loopback test:
For this test with CI-V configuration there is no need to make an external loopback connection because CI-V is a single line interface and it is looped back internally.
Neat trick @webmonkey! What an excellent way to be able to use the DigiRig on both TTL and CI-V configurations without changing the hardwired configurations.
Kudos to you

So I did this loop back test and it does not work the terminal is completely dead
Ok I pulled the Digirig apart and it was configured for RS-232. Once I reconfigured it for CI-V it does work. That is my ignorance. I was not aware when ordering a kit for an icon that I would have to reconfigure the digirig. Thank you all for your help.
glad you got it working!

And you proved out a question that I had; if a RS-232 DigiRig was plugged into Icom’s CI-V jack, would any harm come to either device
