Codan NGT AR - Cable

Rob,

You are correct and that’s all I need. I have audio being piped to the computer but ptt is failing. Thanks.

sorry - I cant remember which setting DTR or RTS for PTT.

Ok, So for everyone’s sake in this thread, I have it working. The pinout from K0TX is correct with the exception of the pin 9 to pin 1, that is not usable. The second thing is to select None for rig in WSJTx as the rig control cannot work with the Codan. With wsjtx only handling ptt and audio, the setup works.

Im building a cable to connect to my NGT but im confused by this * sleeve (GND) to 4 (Ground) and 5 (Tx audio) - pinning one leg of balanced input
Is it saying the sleve ground of the audio plug goes to both pins 4 & 5 of the codan 15pin plug?

Based on the signal names, this radio uses differential input for the mic - the signal is the voltage difference between the two lines. The output from Digirig is a voltage relative to the ground. In order for the two sides to work together one of the sides of the differential input is grounded.

You can first try without making that connection, but my prediction is that it’s either going to be no audio or weak/distorted audio.

G’Day Allan - I am away from home just now, but if you look in the forum history I detailed the connection you are after.

BTW… These radios can be used with Winlink Express. The channel change function writes a memory location on the Codan and then changes to that channel.
