Compatibility for Yaesu FT-2980R, VX-6, Alinco 735T?

Hi y’all, looking for a little help/validation here. I’ve been enjoying digital modes on HF and would like to add ability on VHF/UHF. I thought I understood what I needed, but the more I window shop and read the less confident I become.

What I’ve got:
Yaesu FT-2980R
Alinco 735T
Yaesu VX-6

I’ve used the last two to collect my Winlink email via a Mobilink TNC4, so I already have a mini DIN 6 cable for the Alinco and the PTT cable for the VX-6 with the gasket. Any reason why these wouldn’t work with the Digirig? It looks like I need the Yaesu RJ-12 cable for the 2980, and I assume the Digirig mobile, “Logic Levels (default)” will be good for all three.

Appreciate any feedback!

The cables for Mobilink TNC don’t have the same pinout as Digirig cables.
You can use an adapter between the two types:

To find matching cables for your radio please use this page:

And yes, you can use Digirig Mobile in any configuration or Digirig Lite with the radios you listed. More on that here:

An adapter—brilliant! Glad I asked. Thanks so much for the links.

All work fine with a Digirig. The level is irrelevant for any of them, as you’ll only use RTS for keying. This means you can use any flavor level.

Found this msg thread while searching for a solution similar to above. I can use my Mobilinkd TNC with my FTM400 no problem…
I purchased the DigiRig Yaesu RJ-12 cable as well as the pinout adaptor as mentioned above. I have the adaptor plugging the Mobilinkd and the Digirig cable plugged into that and the FT-2980. When I try to connect to a Winlink station, the radio keys up but does not transmit anything.
Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Erik

Just to rule out any wiring issues, you can test the continuity of the connection.
RJ-12 cable:

With addition of the adapter the R1 and R2 are crossed over.

Thank you! It seems that the crossover cable is the issue. Pin 2 on RJ-12 has no continuity with any TRRS of the Digirig 3.5
