Hi, I did scan topics but didn’t see a general question about the default power levels of the serial line on the default non-CAT digirig mobile. The guide looks like its easy solder job to reconfigure, so I am not worried, but just want to know what I am trying to accomplish. I bought the default logic for no CAT control for my FT-2900R, but I wanted to also use it in my base station with a Yaesu FT-450 that has CAT control, if I adjust the serial to match the FT-450, is there any impact on the usability of the digirig for the FT2900R?
no
there would be no impact to a radio currently only using the audio/RTS cable.
only the ‘other’ port/cable usage would be effected.
i do think that the 450 requires rts/dtr signaling on the serial line though and the digirig does not provide that.
the RTS is used for PTT and is not present on the ‘serial side’
good luck

Cool, thanks for that! Also I found in another thread the following, which should work for the 450 via BartKindt responding to K0TX about the serial pinout/RTS:
found in the meantime that there is a setting in the FT-450 to disable the RTS under Digital settings. This prevents the transceiver going to TX when the RTS goes high. Because when I did NOT force the DTR high, the CAT would not work!
Anyway, by disabling the RTS causing a transmit, I now got it all working.
It is going to be a while before I get APRS going in the van on the FT2900r because they decided to make the RPi 5 have a 5v/5a supply requirement and all of the mobile power options are with 18650 batteries and no basic usb-c charger delivers 5a consistently.
