Connecting baofeng to phone/laptop with digirig

Hello,

I’m trying to connect my radio (baofeng UV-5RM Plus), to a mobile/desktop app so that the app can emit & receive on the frequency.

So far, I’ve been able to receive from the radio using a TRS to TRRS cable. I’m trying now to get the radio to transmit, but I seem to be stuck.

My current setup is: Phone/laptop => usbc cable => digirig mobile (https://www.passion-radio.fr/interface-radio/drmob-2946.html) => digirig cable (https://www.passion-radio.fr/cable-interface-radio/bfengmobile-2962.html) plugged in the audio jack => radio.

I’m not able to receive the sound from the phone/laptop or emit.

I’ve tried to start debugging with wsjt-x following this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1EtrkyisCnc), but still couldn’t figure it out, was able to do the hardware debug steps and confirm that the digirig & cables are working properly though.

The “tune” button is not emitting anything either.

Any idea how I could debug this further?

I’m rather new in the hardware/radio world (coming from a software engineering background), so forgive me if some questions might sound dumb  also happy to read more on whatever doc would be appropriate to learn more about those kind of setups.

Regards,

Antoine,

Let’s continue with the troubleshooting you started using WSJT-X.

Can you please share the screenshot of the PTT settings? Also please provide the screenshot of the device manager showing Digirig’s serial port.

Hey K0TX,

I have no clue how that happened, but while going into the settings to take the screenshot, I tried the tune “Test PTT” button, and this time it worked. Then tried again with on the mobile app, and now everything works perfectly, receiving & transmitting!

I really don’t see what I did differently from before, but at least now everything is ok so no help needed

Thank you still for taking the time to reply!

Antoine
