Converting default config to RS-232

This was a unit ordered from amazon. I intend to use it with a KX3

I followed the instructions to cut the two traces to the CMOS pads, and then added 3 solder bridges on the RS-232 side.

Multimeter confirms the 2 traces that needed to be cut have been. Also there is no bridging between the 3 RS-232 solder blobs.

I took the digirg and hooked it up to my kx3, and the PC could not communicate with the radio. I confirmed with the factory elecraft USB-> serial that the rig was able to communicate.

Back to the bench for a bit more testing. If I hold the digirig so the digirig text is right side up:

I have continuity from the top rs-232 blob to the bottom right cmos pad. 33 Ohms

The diode beep / continuity from the bottom rs-232 blob to the bottom right cmos pad does not show continuity, but I have 42k ohms between the pads.

Thoughts on what to check next?

I would try the serial loopback as shown in this video:

watched the video, and didn’t see where there was a loopback test

Sorry, same channel, wrong video.
