I’m investigating similar connection information though to one of the newer iPhones. I’ll attempt to report back the detail.

I’m still working on this as something seems to be off, not sure if it’s a radiomail issue or an issue with the digirig lite or cable. I have been trying to get this working using my Yaesu FT-70D as well as your topic specified Baofeng.

I have been able to get Radiomail application working with my Yaesu HT and now with my Baofeng HT. Pretty simple really.

  1. Plug in your Digirig Lite to the USB connection on the bottom of your ipad (assuming that this is a USB-C version of iPad)
  2. Connect the Digirig → Baofeng Cable to your Digirig Lite and to your Baofeng Radio.
  3. Turn the volume up about half way on your iPad
  4. Turn the volume up about half way on your Baofeng radio
  5. Open the radio mail app
  6. Look for “Stations” that are near your current location and set a few as favorite that are nearby
  7. In the bottom left of the application click the letter looking icon.
  8. Click on favorites and choose the favorite that is nearest you, make sure to take note of the frequency.
  9. Set the noted frequency on your radio.
  10. Click “Connect” in the application and watch the log near the bottom of the screen for the logs saying that that Radiomail was able to connect.

It may be helpful to have another radio nearby on the same channel so that you hear your radio transmitting, so long as your radio is transmitting its likely any errors experienced aren’t fully an issue with your setup.

Note: It’s possible that you may need a better antenna than the one on your HT, its possible that the station that you’re trying to connect to isn’t near enough or online. Don’t believe that you’ve got something wrong until these are addressed. Stations beyond 20 miles or so, depending on landscape may not be possible to connect to.
