Digi, Win 11, Direwolf/WinLink & VARA

I had everything working.

VARA FM/Winlink connected to local RF server.

Direwolf sent APRS packets with WX and were heard by other nearby iGates.

Then nothing.

I am able to send packets to my VX-8G (both ways) and Direwolf recieves them and passes on to the iGate.

I have removed the USB port.
I have installed (whether I needed it or not) the CP210 driver.
I connected the digirig and the same port appeared Intel Active Management Technology - SOL (COM3).
I’ve adjusted the speaker volume on Playback and Microphone value on Recording.

The packets, as I said go to my VX-8G, but no where else.
Winlink/Vara doesn’t work.

I’m stumped.

Help… Thanks!@

Does the computer key up the radio when you are trying to transmit from Direwolf? Do you hear your tones on the air when tuning another radio to the same frequency?

Hi Denis,

You beat me to the post (got busy with work  )

All of a sudden packets started being received by two different APRS stations. As I think I mentioned, I’m using a temporary antenna, so my range is limited.

The only thing I can surmise, given the disappearance and reappearance of packet reception (out going) is they turned off their iGates…

I’ll hopefully be able to run a new antenna cable shortly.

Thanks again…

Note: I haven’t played with VARA… don’t want to rock the boat…

you might increase the TXD in direwolf just a bit.
packet needs a good signal and the header might be getting lost in the noise if you’re ‘just getting in’ on the igates you’re closest to.

good luck
