I followed all recommendations on the 891 reference page and run into the following issue.
When I enable data/packet I can transmit, but the incoming messages almost stop.
When I enable USB incoming messages flow in normally, but I can not transmit.
This is the same using a Windows 11 PC or a Macbook Air M4 2025 on a FT-891.
What is the secret here?
So I made sure those settings were correct, but that did not change the behavior in my original post. On USB good reception, but no transmission. On Data/packet bad reception, but normal transmission.
There must be something I am missing, but I am at a loss.
More update: Now figured out that besides setting width, it also has to be turned on (black WDH). The transmit level setting in sound is now at 90%, the WSJT power slider also, the 891 Data power setting is at 40W and the power meter indicates about 20-25W. Tuner FC50 is engaged. PSKReporter indicates my signals is received properly around the US on 20M.
