Radio is a IC-706MKIIG. I bought a new Digirig Mobile unit from the manufacturer and the two sets of cables they recommended for the 706. I’m running iFTx on my iPad, choosing the iPad because it has a USB-C connection. Antenna is an ARRL EFHW (I plan to take this all on the road.)
20 meters, 14.074. Receive works great and I get stations from all over. When I try to reply to a station, the iPad and presumably the Digirig think they are going into transmit. But the 706 does not go into transmit mode. The serial cable from the Digirig is connected to the SILVER CI-V remote Control Jack, and the audio cable to the Accessory Socket.
All seems cool, receives great, doesn’t key the 706 to transmit. The PV 45 CI-V Remote Vontrol Jack page doesn’t help me.
Does anyone know what’s wrong? I can phone or text too, 303-506-3886. Pulling my hair out!
Very few mobile apps support explicit PTT methods such as PTT by RTS or GPIO, and at the time of writing I know of none that support serial CAT (CI-V) control. For mobile setup you might need to use Digirig Lite as it implements PTT by VOX which always works.
Regardless of the interface model you use, my recommendation is to first make things working on a PC where it’s easy to troubleshoot things and then move to a mobile app knowing that all the hardware is working.
if i remember correctly, the ic-706 series doesn’t support CI-V PTT.
for a digirig mobile, you’d select RTS/comport#
(as @K0TX stated above, if the mobile platform allow using comports)
