Digirig and radio transmitting on digital without command

Got an 891 with the older digirig (2 cables)
Windows laptop

Was running JS8 and Vara for the longest time without issue.

I can only assume I did something wrong but one day the radio starts transmitting digitally without command from the computer (meaning me doing something or a normal auto reply)

I checked and it’s not anything like an automatic response to a heartbeat or other communication.

It will click on and off a few times a minute, even when I don’t have a digital program running.

I pull the PTT cable from the laptop and it stops. I plug it back in and it starts again, sometimes taking a minute or two to start the unprompted keying up the PTT.

I can only assume something in the computer is triggering the PTT but I don’t know why.

Please make sure that you’re running cables with ferrites ala Coiled USB-A to USB-C cable – digirig I have seen RFI trigger PTT on some of my rigs.

Digirig DR-891 supports PTT by VOX on the right audio channel similarly to how it works in Digirig Lite. If you don’t want this PTT method engaged, configure audio settings in JS8Call to only send audio payload to left channel.
