DigiRIG AT-D878UVII and DigiPi

Hi,
i am trying to get the anytone D878 working with DigiPi. I use Didigirg with the black cable, and from my pi via the digirig to the anytone. Purpose is to use digipi as aprs gate, for chating and for ax.25 data trafik like Winlink.
The problem i am facing, and it could also be the code plug is the folowing.
DigiPi on, Radio on, enable APRS TNC igate the DigiPi seems to activate PTT what is logic to make an transmittion “here i am” packet. And then the PTT stays high. Only way is stop the activated ptt is to disable the aprs tnc gate again. It is asif the communication between the set and digirig is in some sort of “i have no clue what is gooing” on state. It looks dtr is triggerd to high and stays that way. The digirig is also used with my ft-857 and works fine.

If i stop the aprs gate, as a enf of ptt action the set is transmitting my location over aprs …
Any clue how to debug this?

I would guess radio frequency interference on PTT.

There is a guide, Troubleshooting Digital Modes – digirig which will help to solve problems in a step-by-step fashion.

Eelco,
Please note that Digirig is not a TNC and Digirig’s serial port is not intended for the payload data. You’ll need a software TNC between your client app and the sound card - something like direwolf on Linux or soundmodem on PC.

thats correct, the digirig is the data transport and ptt “driver” for the digipi.
The tnc, in this case direwolf os on the digipi. The audio of the porto is send via the diririg.to the digipi, and vice versa when direwolf want to transmit data it activated the ptt and transport the audio via digirig to the porto. Thats what ununderstand. When the tnc is starting it announce itselves upper the ptt and activate the audiotransport and after that the ptt should drop.. and there is where i have the issue.

Thank you for clarification. I’m not experienced with this particular setup, but the important part is that the client software doesn’t touch anything Digirig related directly (serial ports, audio codec etc). It should only communicate to the software modem which handles the hardware.

The PTT getting stuck is most frequently related to either software activating RTS signal of the serial port unintentionally or RFI locking up the interface. You can find some relevant troubleshooting info in the guide linked earlier in this thread.
