Digirig’s - COM port in correct configuration, tested good with loopback
CI-V Cable - you made it, please make sure it is correct
Software - settings look good in your screenshots
Radio settings - you made required changes, please make sure they are correct
Let’s try troubleshooting radio. Do you have other operators in your area who have CI-V control working with their ICOM? You can borrow their interface to test your radio and make sure the changes you made are correct.
thats the problem i am the only one doing this actually for ft8 via wsjtx is working good on rx but cannot do the tx,second is on wsjtx make a tune and its going red but the radio will not transmit even on ft8 band selection frequency still not working its say error to communicate the rig anyway i will try to send a screen shot of that error later thanks for your support…
on the radio side i already put in4148 for the 9600 baud rate and nothing happen and no setting on radio except installing the diode which i made already.
Thank you for sharing the screenshot. The interesting part is what is behind the error message. It doesn’t look like you selected Digirig’s COM port for the serial CAT control. Please make the adjustment. Also make sure RTS is selected as the PTT method, this also should point to the same Digirig’s COM port.
i have question of that serial cable connection
from serial of the radio to serial of digirig
serial digirig
T tip------------------------------ T tip
R no connection R1 no connection
R2 no connection
S ------------------------------S
this is my understanding of the details you sent to me ,is this okey?
The settings now look correct. I would setting Eight bit and trying or or two stop bits.
The cable is correct: only tip and sleeve are connected in CI-V cable.
You are in a frustrating position. There is still more troubleshooting you can do. Did you try a generic CI-V cable to see how well that works with your Icom ic-726, as Denis K0TX recommended here:
the 726 is a neat little radio.
basically a fore runner to my favorite 736.
anyway, the ci-v ‘hardware’ is all the same so barring a hardware failure in the 726, there is no reason for the digirig mobile hardware to be incompatible.
the screenshots look ‘correct’ to me if the chosen port # is correct.
on the RADIO itself, the ci-v address should be 0x30, that is where hamlib will look if you select ic-726.
so in the RADIO’s menu, double check ci-v address as well as ci-v baud (you may have mentioned that one already)
from the digirig mobile, IF it has been modified OR ordered for CI-V, then the cable you have stated as building, should work just fine.
digirig side should be a TRRS connector and the icom radio side a TS connector.
the older the CI-V capable radio, the more i like to use TS instead of TRS.
tip connected to tip
sleeve connected to sleeve.
lastly, you can troubleshoot very quickly if you have another remote control cable.
if you have a xiegu usb ‘cat’ cable, you can put a stereo to mono adapter on it and it will 100% operate an icom ci-v radio.
(the stereo to mono adapter ties the rx and tx lines into one connection on the tip)
i have a bpq32 node running an ic-736 with this exact cable ‘mod’.
this could help you determine if the main board of the radio is alive or not as far as CI-V goes.
yes i have DIN connector so i can easy install a cable to it infact when i change the setting of my N1MM logger to RTS{ always on} the adio will conteniuo transmit and change it to PTT it will ok and sorry for the late respond but i have done almost everything about trouble shooting will anyway i will try to sell this item to other ham here in my country, thanks everyone…
