Digirig + FT-817 radio + HL-50b amp + z817 tuner

Has anyone ever setup a Digirig or Digirig Lite to work with the FT-817 radio, HiPower HL-50b amp + z817 tuner? If so, how did you do this?

Since the amp is only for HF + 6m bands, I’m wondering if there’s a way to set up the config to use the Digirig across all bands.

Thanks, Brian KD7TAE

Brian,
There is no issue with FT-817 + Z817 and any Digirig model. Digirig Lite only needs MiniDin6 connection to the radio which tuner doesn’t use. Digirig Mobile additionally uses MiniDin8 connection which passes through Z817.

I’m not finding any information on the pinout of DIN8 connector in the back of HL-50B amp. Depending on what it needs you may need to split one of the connections between Digirig and radio. Feel free to share the pinout info if you have the manual for the amp.

Hi Denis,
Thank you for that info. I’ve uploaded the copy of the HL-50B manual that I was able to find some time ago. The ACC pinout is given on the second-to-last page.

Thank you again,

Thank you for sharing the info. From what I see there should be no conflict between CAT control and signals the amp is receiving. You should be able to use a MiniDin8 splitter to connect amp and tuner to the radio directly with Digirig through the tuner.

Cool. Thank you Denis!
