DigiRig Kenwood TS-790 and WSJT-X

Hello,

I‘ve ordered (D-23483) the Cable for the TS-790 from Kenwood.
Decoding works very good.

Transmitting started, Transceiver works but then comes this failure:

Has anybody an idea what i can do?

losing the ‘remote control’ upon tx is usually a sign of RFI.

first thing to try is easy, turn the rf power all the way down on the radio.
then the rest of the rfi suppression stuff.

ferrites and other ‘choking’ solutions.
antenna/feedline
getting pc/digirig farther away from radio

I would agree with you, but this error message appears even when I’m not using any transmission power after a few seconds.
And the USB cable and the antenna cable are shielded against RFI.

that last cat/ts-790 issue i remember ‘helping’ with was for satpc32

the user had already tied rts/dtr together at the radio and was adjusting ‘CAT delay’ for best results.

since, like you said, it’s doing it whenever it feels like, it’s probably a timing/flow control issue.

i’d try setting in wsjt-x
8
2
none (the digirig doesn’t use the rts/dtr lines for flow control and would set off ptt if selected)

you could also try increasing polling interval.
this is counterintuitive for quickly changing frequency and ptt via cat control.
it shouldn’t do any harm at all if using rts for ptt.

If i Change it to 8/2/none the transceiver would not TX.
With 8/2/default he will tx but with Rig Failure. But: After 17-20 seconds. The Transceiver do TX for >15seconds.

The problem seems to be solved. I shouldn’t have selected the transceiver. It’s in the list, but if I select ‘None’ there, it works.

Thank you for your Support!

With rig set to None you disable CAT control. That’s no problem if it’s your preference, but it’s something that Digirig supports so it may be worth playing with the settings to get it going.

Also, it looks like you use radio’s VOX for triggering the transmission. The better choice is Digirig’s PTT by RTS. You’ll need to select Digirig’s serial port when you are configuring this method.
