I got a DR Mobile to set up my Winlink Gateway. It works fine on VARA-FM, but not on Packet at the same time. I’m told that your Lite version will work on both, since it doesn’t use com ports. Is that correct? Do I use the same transceiver-side cable as with the DR Mobile? Thanks.
Are you using soundmodem as the software TNC/modem? If so, have you tried to set PTT type to EXT? You are correct that there is no COM port with digirig-lite.
Soundmodem and digirig-lite are mentioned in this thread:

you are correct.
digirig mobile uses the RTS line on a comport to key the radio.
comports, serial ports, are controlled exclusively by the first application to claim it.
in your case, vara-fm. any other program attempted to use it will throw errors.
digirig lite uses the gpio ‘pin’ available on the cm108 ‘series’ audio chip.
this IS a ‘shareable’ device and can be used by multiple programs simultaneously.
the ‘old’ allstar link dongle DIY tutorials on the internet are the same principle.
so to make vara-fm and soundmodem run on the same digirig lite/ra-board/homebrew modified dongle;
you select ra-board as the ptt in vara-fm and in soundmodem, select EXT, then advanced settings, then select the name of the digirig lite ( like usb pnp audio or something).
that will get you vara-fm and soundmodem at the same time.
good luck

Also, if the problem you’re having is that Soundmodem and VARA can’t use the same DigiRig sound card at the same time (aside from PTT), make sure that Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device is unchecked in the Advanced tab of the DigiRig sound card settings for both Playback and Recording.
