Hi, I received my new digirig lite the other day and started testing it today.
Unfortunately, I’m having an issue where it always engages PTT when powered on, regardless of whether or not any audio is being output.
That includes when it is connected to a powered off radio, or when not connected to a radio or cable at all (while all radios in the vicinity are turned off)
I have tried it on my iPhone 16 Pro Max (which has USB C), as well as my laptop (I have tried USB C and USB A). Even if the audio output is entirely muted, the PTT stays engaged on both.
Sometimes, depending on the position of the cable where the usb end enters the housing of the digirig lite, the PTT briefly turns off but the slightest movement causes it to trigger again.
I’ve tried listening with another radio to see if there is some sort of noise or tone that is causing the PTT to be triggered, but I hear nothing on the receiving radio (nothing heard, full quieting)
Listening to the audio output of my phone and laptop through a pair of USB C earbuds and headphones, I hear nothing either, but obviously that is using the DAC in those as opposed to the one in the digirig.
I’ve tried to listen to the audio coming out of the digirig lite directly (using stereo headphones and earbuds with a standard TRS plug).
When I do that I can hear audio through the right channel, and a very faint, very high pitched tone. I thought that might be the PTT signal contaminating the audio out, but the tone is still present when the cable is manipulated so the PTT turns off.
I attempted to record the tone with a digital recorder, but I couldn’t hear it in the recording.
As a last ditch attempt, I tried connecting it to a dumb charger, with a USB A “data blocker” in line - which has no data pins, only power and ground . The PTT still immediately turns on as soon as it is plugged in.
It seems like the one I received is defective? I can’t think of anything else to try.
