I’m attempting to connect a Kenwood TH-6A handheld to a digirig lite. I’m running Linux Mint and using direwolf. When I connect the digirig, the PTT light comes on and never goes off. Pat winlink fails to key the radio.
I have turned off VOX in the radio, configured the Speaker/Mic, made sure packet is selected at 1200 baud.
Good point Denis. I don’t know if the problem is solved under Windows. I
don’t have a working Windows machine at the present time.
I might run Windows in a VM and check it. If I do that I will report the
results here.
One thing is that I apparently ordered the wrong cable set. I should got the
one for Kenwood TH-6A. I think the one I ordered is the one for direct
connection to the Baofeng. That may be the problem.
I do know that at least one user did get the Digirig Lite to work with the
Kenwood handheld, so I believe this is possible.
On Windows: VM might work, but with the system not having a direct access to the hardware there is a potential for you to end up troubleshooting multiple issues simultaneously which is the situation we’re trying to avoid by using Windows in a first place.
If you are using a direct to computer cable with the Digirig then that is certainly an issue. That cable is intended for audio connection only directly to the computer’s mic and speaker jacks (2 jacks, no PTT) and doesn’t match Digirig’s audio (single socket, audio + PTT).
