Digirig Lite not giving COM Port

Edit: After further research, apparently it doesn’t do PTT. Reading the product page, it says it combines ptt and audio and I ASSUMED that ment that it used the same 3.5mm trrs plug like the digirig mobile does, combining ptt and audio in same cable. It was my understanding it just didn’t have the second 3.5mm jack for serial, but that isn’t the case… This is a completely different device.

Original : After buying and having great luck with 2 separate DigiRig Mobiles, I ordered the DigiRig Lite about a month ago and it just arrived. First thing I did was plug the usb-c into my android phone and nothing happen.

Usually when I plug in the DigiRig, APRSDroid automatically opens or it at least gives me a prompt saying I plugged something in.

So I took it and plugged it into my PC to see what it does there… Watching device manager on my windows pc while plugging it in, it does NOT give me any new COM Ports. It DOES give me the correct two audio ports though.

After waiting a month for this thing, is it defective or am I missing something?

Thanks!

from the store page:

Description

A minimalistic version of Digirig with the same audio code as regular model of the interface but without serial port.

the digirig lite has NO serial port.
(hence the ‘lite’)

the ptt options are GPIO and VOX and still uses the ‘audio’ cable to trigger it.
so aprsdroid would use vox for ptt. (i use aprsdroid but haven’t updated in a while so i’m not sure if it has implemented gpio yet)
the vox capability is in the digirig lite, not the radio so the radio you use doesn’t have to support vox and should not be enabled on the radio

good luck

I’ve posted a comparison on current Digirig lineup at:

When time permitting, next will be the tutorials for Digirig Lite and Digirig DR-891 hopefully removing any confusion about features and configuration.
