DigiRig Lite not recognized on a powered USB hub

Documenting a discovery I made today:

I have a mini-PC that is short on USB ports, so I attached a Rosewill RHB-210 powered USB hub to the PC running Windows 11 with the latest OS updates. Unlike some other powered USB hubs, this particular hub will not work without power. With this hub connected to the PC and power applied to the hub, upon plugging in a DigiRig Lite, the PC does not recognize the sound card.

A few seconds after connecting the DigiRig Lite, this message appears:

and the Device Manager shows “Unknown USB Device (Port Reset Failed)”:

If I attach the DigiRig Lite to a USB port on the PC itself, it works fine. Likewise, if I attach the DigiRig Lite to a port on an unpowered USB hub, it works fine. The DigiRig Lite also works if attached to a powered USB hub that does not require power, whether or not that hub is attached to power.

Another odd thing is that if I attach a different sound card (not a DigiRig) that uses the same CM108 sound chip to that Rosewill RHB-210 USB hub that requires power, it is recognized.

I wanted to mention this because occasionally users post that their PCs don’t recognize their DigiRig sound cards. The reason might be that they are attaching the sound card to certain powered USB hubs.

I have replicated this problem on another PC with a different Rosewill RHB-210 powered hub.

Thank you for the detailed info. I’ll try to replicate the issue at some point and figure out the solution or workaround.
