Digirig Lite PTT and Yaesu FT-5DR

I got my Lite and Yaesu specific cable for the FT-5DR from you today. The PTT was not triggering the radio to transmit ( the PTT LED on Lite was coming on ). Any touch on the cable and it would back out of the jack. When I turned up the audio and turned the Squelch down I was also hearing the audio from the radio speaker. If I pressed firmly in on the cable and hold it there I can get the audio to stop and if add a bit of side load at the same time the PPT will trigger the radio.

The cable doesn’t go in far enough to get retained or make good connections. I also tried swapping the cable end for end with no joy. The radio is only a couple weeks old and this was the first cable to plug in that jack.

Any ideas ? should I get a replacement cable from Digirig ?

With the radio being brand new, the rubber ring in the socket that is supposed to make it somewhat splashproof pushes the connector out. Try rotating the connector while pushing it in so the rubber ring climbs on the narrowed part of the connector’s molding.

I tried twisting while pushing in multiple times without success. I got out the xacto knife after examining the rubber gasket on the HT and made 5 radial slits from the outer edge to the inner hole. This let me get the connector in to make good contact without holding it in. However it is not well retained and will pop loose with a minor disturbance of the cable. Hope it will improve with use and time. Thanks Dave
