DigiRig Lite USB-A to USB-C Adapter

I’m using the DigiRig Lite to connect a Dell laptop running EmComm Tools (Ubuntu 22) to my Alinco HT. The laptop ONLY has USB-A ports.

When I use the included/official USB-A to USB-C adapter from DigiRig, it will show up as an audio device, but it will NOT transmit/receive.

But when I use a USB voltmeter that I have on hand as an adapter (I plug the adapter into the laptop and the Lite into the adapter) then it works fine.

The Lite also works well on my iPhone with just the USB-C port.

It would seem that something is amiss on the included USB-A to USB-C adapter. Is there a different one recommended that I should get? Is there a way to troubleshoot?

John,
You can see if the issue is with the adapter by using it with some other data-capable device.
For example, use it with USB C/C cable to make a USB A/C cable and test that by connecting phone or tablet to the computer. Depending on the result you’ll know if the issue is with the adapter or that particular USB host not detecting Digirig Lite.

Thanks for the reply.

I did some more testing and I got it to work.

In following your advice, I discovered that the adapter would NOT accept any other data capable device.

But after several system restarts, it started working again. I’m not sure what the issue was, but I think it was software related somehow. For whatever reason, that computer did not like the adapter for a while. It’s an older Dell running Linux.
