Here’s my problem:
Testing on a Dell i5 Laptop running Wind10 pro.
Sound Modem recognizes the DigiRig Lite Interface.
PTT.DLL is in the same folder as Sound Modem.
PTT Port is set to “EXT”
Click on Advance PTT settings.
Will error out with either “NO PTT.DLL is not found” or
“No Advance settings found”
I have even put Sound Modem and the PTT.DLL file right on the Desktop screen, still no good.
I have a DigiRig Lite interface running VARA-FM and Sound Modem on my Winlink Gateway and NO issues there.
I bought 2 more recently and have tested on my Dell Desktop Primary PC and that works just fine.
Now regarding VARA-FM the only problem I have there is when the Radio goes into TX it locks up.
Radio I’m testing with is a Alinco DR-135T MKIII.
Radio is connected to a dummy Load Antenna.
I suspecting RFI into the USB Port is causing the lockup or noise on the USB line and I will then need the USB Isolator.
Any ideas.
The problem does sound like RFI. Ferrite beads on the USB and leadline. Moving the antenna far from the transceiver helped me have a stable setup for two years and counting.
Regarding the “No PTT.dll is found” problem, try this (assumes you have the PTT.dll file in the same folder as the soundmodem program):
Press the Windows key and R together to open the Run dialog box.
Type sysdm.cpl and press Enter to launch System Properties.
Move to the Advanced tab inside the System Properties window and click on Settings under Performance.
Navigate to the Data Execution Prevention tab.
There are 2 choices. The first is “Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only”. If yours is set to this, there’s nothing you can do here to change that soundmodem.exe error.
The second choice is “Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select:” If yours is set to this, you have 2 choices:
Leave that setting as-is, then:
Click Add… and then browse to and select C:\soundmodem\soundmodem.exe (or wherever you installed soundmodem.exe and the PTT-DLL files).
Click Apply, then OK and OK again to close all the dialog boxes.
Change the setting to "Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only”.
Steve, Steve here also. Tnx so much for that info. It works!
I will file this info with my other DigiRig Mobile and DigiRig Lite files.
Tnx again. 73 de Steve KB6HOH
