Digirig Mobile RS-232 and FTM-150 audio from radio is noisy

I have my Digirig Mobile connected to my FTM-150DRASP with the Digirig Yaesu 10-pin DIN cable (9600baud) and the Digirig is connected to my Windows PC via the Digirig USB-C to USB-C cable. I have attempted to follow everything that I can find to set this up correctly in VARA FM. However, when I open a VARA session the audio is constantly about -9 to -12 dB when no audio is coming from the radio. If I go into the Windows sound properties and check “Listen to this Device” I hear static when the radio is not receiving anything. If the radio begins to receive audio the audio that I hear through my computer is garbled and noisy but the levels are in the middle range. When the radio stops receiving the static returns. I’m thinking that I am missing something simple but I just can’t seem to figure it out.

Any thoughts?

see if AGC is checked/enabled on the input of the digrig sound device on the windows pc

also, does the cable set have a serial/green plug ?
if so, try unplugging the serial/green plug from the digirig mobile
(there was another thread with noisy audio that was from serial crosstalk)

good luck

AGC was disabled as well as any other “enhancements”. I tried unplugging the serial connection and it made no difference. I did update to Windows 11 overnight (not for this but there were other reasons) and it seems to be a little better now. Still getting the static when the radio is idle but I can at least understand what I am hearing back from the radio now.

Now I need to figure out why I cannot connect to any VARA FM stations :grimacing: .
