I promised I will give feedback when my Digirig arrives and it has. I am using an endfed 20 meter long wire antenna so I knew RFI could be a problem, I have an old Windows 7 Acer laptop that I have been using with Log4om with CAT control but wanted to upgrade to a HP Probook 450 with Windows 11, it turns out the HP is too sensitive to RFI, even with no cables conected, I had to stay with the Windows 7 Acer. I loaded WSJT-X and set it up to use a Prolific USB to serial port for CAT, set up at 57600, 8 bits, one stop bit and RTS/CTS harware flow control without any in-between apps like Omnirig via a straight serial cable not a nul modem cable! The Digirig is taking care of RX/TX audio and PTT on another com port. After sorting out some audio problems, it was easy after watching the video linked on this site, things were looking good, I like to keep the audio levels in the cables as high as possible to improve signal to noise ratios. The TX input setting in menu item 33 is set to 0 and RX output level in menu item 34, is set to 4, the Windows levels in audio properties were then used to fine tune the levels, the 13 pin din plug were used for audio in/out and PTT. Everything is working perfectly and I am on FT8 with my old TS570D!
Hmm…So are you able to use the CAT control cable Digirig? It sounds like you too have issue with the CAT with digirig and have to use a 3rd party RS232 adapter instead.
After a lot of research I never considered using the Digirig for CAT control because with the TS570D you need hardware flow control and a speed of 57600 for stable CAT control, remember I previously had TX delay problems when using CAT with Log4om while sending CW, the beginning of my characters would be chopped at 9600 when the processor is taking time handling data, I suspect that part of that problem was because Omnirig does only half RTS/CTS flow control and the radio has no say in the matter because CTS is kept low, so with WSJT-X I dont use Omnirig and connect straight to the Prolific USB to serial converter using full flow control. WSJT-X does provide the option to use different com ports for CAT and PTT.
