Digitenna, is counterpoise possible?

I realize the spec says to use the shield of the coax leadline as counterpoise. Is it also possible to attach a counterpoise to someplace inside the reel and choke the coax leadline?

There is no dedicated terminal for the ground, but it can be tapped at the shield of the BNC connector. An easier option is to just move the choke to transceiver’s end of the feedline.

i often use a crimp style ring terminal that ‘fits’ over the bnc female.
then attach the coax.
works well if you need a counterpoise when using a sub-30ft bit of coax.
