I use one of these and they work for digital modes with Digirig Lite. Grabbed a backup unit. With coupon after taxes it came to $21.04 No affiliation. Like New Refurbished 32GB Fire HD 8 Tablet, 8" HD Display

How did you get the coupon? 73 Constrainted

It’s in the listing: SMARTFIVE

OK, thanks very much. This is my first time on WOOT. 73 Constrainted

Denis! What sort of OS does this run? Also what mode(s) can be ran on this Tablet? Not that I don’t need another PC of a sort! 73 de Steve KB6HOH

These are Android devices - not particularly fancy, but enough for digital modes or for watching a movie on the airplane.

I received mine today. So far, it seems tightly coupled to Amazon. For $20, I knew I would have to give up something! With the SDCard slot, it is more open than the Android phone I own. This is my first tablet of any kind. 73 Constrainted

Yes, these are certainly not as nice as $500 tablets, but should be good enough for playing with radios, experimentation and bringing outside without much worry.

Thanks! I use these for VE Tests. But these may end up doing other things.

BTW: I got Google Play on these Fire tablets so I’m not locked into Amazon appstore. There are tutorials on the web for the install process.

I successfully installed F-Droid, an appstore offering many GPL programs. I installed two programs successfully, a GPL mapping program based on OpenStreetMaps and a GPL music player. 73 Constrainted
