Sure, the RMA is in PM.
When I have a moment I’ll sit down and write up the settings for VaraHF.
For now I put together a general setup tutorial:
Interestingly enough. I played around with it some more last night and the only thing I cannot get working now is the audio input meter in Vera is showing no input however I was able to successfully send email using win link so I will play around with it some more. And try to increase the audio levels out of my PC and see if that fixes it in order to get it to work I had to set vara to use com 3 for both the cat control and the PTT

Sounds good. Please share the screenshots of your settings when you got it all working or if you need additional help.
Sorry, it’s been a while, I had to get a windows machine per your request to troubleshoot this problem.
When I plug my Digirig 891 into a windows machine, I see two Serial ports, com9 and com10 and they show up as Silicon Labs Dual CP2105 USB to Uart bridge: enhanced com port (COM9) and standard COM port (COM10).
Is this correct and what I should expect to see? I’m not seeing the 891’s serial port at all. I purchased a USB cable from you as well and that’s what I am using between the digirig and the PC.
one of those, 9 or 10, is the serial port you want to select for cat control.
i’m not well versed with the yaesu setups but i’m pretty sure i’ve read here that you want the higher numbered port of the two.
good luck

so when using a digirig 8xx, the cat control from the yaesu ft 891 showed up as cp210x USB to UART bridge. I no longer see this device with the digirig 891. However I understand the digirig 891 was supposed to be a usb passthrough for the radio. Instead I’m only seeing the digirig serial devices and not the radio at all. I am wondering is this normal for this digirig or not? I’ve not found anyone who is actually using this that can clarify for me.
yes, sorry, @K0TX , Denis can explain better but basically the digirig dr-891 doesn’t have a serial device but rather a usb bridge.
i understand the cp numbers are different but the serial ports you are seeing are the serial ports of the radio because the digirig-891 doesn’t have any.
again, my professed expertise is in the Icom and xiegu radios and things one would connect to them.

I’ve just spent several hours on the phone with someone who has done a lot of these on the 891 and whom is proficient with js8call. We’ve determined that we probably have bad hardware, via a lot of troubleshooting, and we’re seeing the same symptoms in both windows and linux. I’m going to ask for an exchange of the older style dr-8xx, hopefully that’ll address my issue.
