Just got my DR891 and am trying to set up. I get strange behavior when I follow the setup guide from DigiRig or any other sources I have found. These pertain to the radio menu setups and the setup in WSJT-X or JTDX, I use both.
The 891 is a backup radio as my 710 is in the shop.
I plan on using the 891 in the field and have it working fine with cw and N1MM.
I have followed the guide to the letter but have PTT issues such that it does not transmit with the 1khz offset or will jump 1 khz on transmit and not return. I get power out so ptt is working but radio is not operating as it should. Note I have tried all the cat speeds and it make no difference. Even used usb cable with ferrite and no difference.
In addition to receive I have to put the software in usb to get reception on the waterfall for the full bandwidth. If i used data I get a compressed 600hz audio bandwidth on the water fall.
This is really puzzling as I have tweaked the settings in the radio and in WSJTX and JTDX with no joy.
Need some help here now.

Make sure you don’t double-dip with the split settings. Start with “SPL” turned off in the radio and the audio bandwidth set to 3K. Relevant paragraph in the documentation:
Finally, use the short presses of the “F” button and MULTI knob to access the “WDH” option to open the bandwidth to full 3000Hz. All other features except for MTR (your choice) and AGC (audio) should be turned off.
Denis - thanks for the response. I have the receive sorted out but the PTT is the main issue.
When I use tune it increments the frequency by 500hz and when it stops it stays at the 500hz increment of frequency. I have tried all the cat rates from 4800 to 38400, it behaves the same at all rates. That is the issue here now. My K3 increments the xmit by 1kz, i.e., if 14.074 then transmit freq is 14.075. The 891 only increments by 500hz, i.e., 14.074 to 14.074.5, is this normal? — Hank / KR7X
The shift of the frequency is handled by WSJT-X when you select sub-frequencies closer to the edges of the audio bandwidth with split setting set to rig or fake. This is done to put your transmit signal closer to the center of the audio bandwidth for efficiency.
You can set the Split Operation to “None” in WSJT-X and turn it off in radio while troubleshooting.
